The Koko-an 古香庵 tea room, part of the Hosomi Museum, is located in Kyoto's cultural zone, Okazaki, just minutes from the Heian Shrine and Kyoto National Museum of Modern Art. Designed by Nakamura Sotoji, the modern sukiya-style tea house features an outdoor terrace and looks over the Higashiyama mountains.

The Hosomi Museum houses a 1,000 piece art collection representing all major periods of Japanese art from the Jomon to Meiji periods, featuring 30 Important Art Properties. Known for its collection of tea ceremony utensils and Buddhist painting, the museum is also notable for its collection of Edo period Rimpa painting (Tawaraya Sotatsu, Sakai Hoitsu) and works by the individualist painter, Ito Jakuchu.
