The EDK Team

We are a multicultural team with strong Kyoto roots, as well as Canadian and Australian backgrounds. With our diverse experiences, skills and vision, we have founded EDK with the aim of fostering greater collaboration within Kyoto's unique cultural environment.

EDK supporter Toshiaki Kimura is a Kyoto native and president of TNC Bridal Service, I.BLOOM, and Kyoto Kekkon Biyori.

EDK Editor / DesignerEric is originally from Toronto, Canada and has been living in Kyoto since 2002. He is a freelance writer, translator and graphic designer.

EDK Editor Originally from Australia, Sally has been living in Kyoto since 1997. As a freelance journalist, editor and translator, Sally has written for a number of publications including The Japan Times, The Independent, The Sydney Morning Herald, Kyoto Journal, Kansai Time Out, Brutus and The Rough Guide to Japan.

Events/Representative After obtaining her MA from the Osaka University of Education, Kyoto native Satoko was active as an artist. After learning studying various cuisines through her travels, she also provides catering to gallery openings and organises art events. Satoko also supervises parent-child art workshops in Kyoto

Akira Sasabe

Representative Freelance business training specialist and also a Jazz pianist in his spare time. Akira's been vegetarian on and off for several years and enjoys discovering vegetarian-friendly restaurants in Osaka and Kyoto.

Representative After graduating from Ritsumeikan university in Kyoto in 2007, Sachi began studying traditional kimono textiles and dyeing and is now active as an artist. She has been living in Kyoto since 2003.
